What does AmSAT-certified mean?

The AmSAT Teacher Certification Requirements can be found here. The training requirements for AmSAT teacher certification are specified in the AmSAT Bylaws and include the completion of an AmSAT-approved Teacher Training Course or an equivalent Bylaw-compliant training.  AmSAT-approved courses maintain 1600 hours of training over a minimum of three years with a five-to-one student/teacher ratio. Once certified, AmSAT teachers must also comply with continuing education requirements established by the Society. Through its rigorous credentialing process, AmSAT has certified over 1,000 teachers since its founding in 1987 and evaluates for approval and periodic re-approval applications from AmSAT members to run AmSAT-approved teacher training courses.
