I will be hosting a 2-day workshop for Alexander teachers taught by Ari Gil.  Ari is the director of The Alexander Technique Center (training course) in San Diego and brings his insight from over 30 years of teaching and his 20+ years of study of Tai Chi and other martial arts forms.  Ari introduced me to the Alexander Technique at age 14 and I continue to study with him when possible.

'Alexander's Way to Mastery' with Ari Gil

  • Thursday, November 1st from 6-8pm
  • Sunday, November 4th from 11-1pm
  • The Red Bean Studios/320 West 37th Street, Suite 702, New York, NY, 10018
  • $100 for full workshop, $50 per day

***Space is limited and given priority to students signing up for the full workshop

In his first book Alexander emphasized two aspects: 1) The Primary Principle, which uses the feet as "base fulcrum and pivot" creating a thrust from the ground that fuels the upward direction; and 2) The Lunge, which Alexander regarded as the foremost Position of Mechanical Advantage. Together they paved the way for Alexander's mastery of Primary Control and Hands On.

Designed to foster independence and self-reliance, the workshop consists of guided experimentation (individually and in pairs), demonstrations, and plenty of time for questions and practice. This will allow you to integrate new, precise, and powerful skills.

The workshop is based on Ari's thirty years of teaching experience, two decades of Tai-Chi practice, and his academic background in Cultural History.
