Only For Students

The Alexander Technique Amherst Summer Weekend Course, taught by Ruth Rootberg, Christine Stevens and Missy Vineyard offers an in-depth experience to deepen your practice of the Alexander Technique. We’ll meet Friday evening for introductions and discussion. Each morning you’ll gather in a small group designed to expand your skills through personal instruction, observation of others and group discussion. A combination of chair work, table work, and movement explorations will increase your understanding of your use and coordination. You will also have a private lesson during the weekend for a more individualized learning experience.

Each afternoon you will join the entire group for an exploration of inhibition and direction, the important cognitive skill of the Alexander Technique. Inhibition and direction become your essential tools as you learn how to lessen fear and pain to reduce their harmful effects and enhance your balance, coordination and freedom.

Join us this July in Amherst for a special opportunity to learn with others who share your interest and enthusiasm for the Alexander Technique as you strengthen your skills in a supportive group setting.

Following this weekend several single and half-day workshops are offered through July 31. Please go to, Ruth Rootberg’s home page, to access the full brochure.
