Mindful Movement

Stone Ridge, NY

We get one body for life: What do you do to maintain your body? This class will introduce you tools based on the Alexander Technique to allow your body to move better so that you feel and look better at any age! The class will be participatory and playful as we get curious about how we move -- observing ourselves and others -- so that we can become more aware of our movement choices. We will combine movement with experiential anatomy and body mechanics. Through these monthly classes, you’ll get to refine your answers to questions like: How does your body coordinate its actions? What do my senses have to do with my movement? Is my body more like a building or a suspension bridge? You’ll be able to bring the ideas from class into your movements throughout your days – from the more mundane like walking to work to the more active like your favorite exercise routine. The Alexander Technique is over 100 years old and is taught around the world by over 3000 teachers. While it's an integral part of actor training, more and more people from all walks of life are benefitting from the thoughtful simplicity and powerful results of the Technique. If you are experiencing chronic or severe pain or want a deep understanding of the Alexander Technique, a private lesson is recommended because it allows the most hands-on guidance. Great value: $20 cash or check Space is limited Click on "tickets" to RSVP The location will be emailed with RSVP. Back at MaMA soon! Allyna, certified Alexander Technique teacher, teaches in Stone Ridge and NYC. More info: www.AlexanderTechniqueForLiving.com
