About AmSAT

AmSAT (American Society for the Alexander Technique) is the largest professional organization of teachers of the Alexander Technique in the United States. AmSAT-certified teachers have completed a comprehensive training over a minimum of three years at an AmSAT approved teacher training course, as specified in the AmSAT Bylaws. Continuing education is a requirement for ongoing AmSAT membership.

AmSAT is affiliated with seventeen international societies of teachers of the Alexander Technique committed to supporting the highest standards of teaching, professional training and conduct worldwide.

AmSAT's Annual Conference and General Meeting (ACGM) is held in a different part of the country each year. Five days of continuing education workshops, collegial exchanges and social events, the ACGM is also where AmSAT business is conducted. ACGM 2016 takes place in Minneapolis, MN and registration is now open!

What is the Alexander Technique?

A proven approach to self care, the Alexander Technique teaches how to unlearn habitual patterns that cause unnecessary tension in everything we do.

It’s used by people of all ages and abilities to enhance the performance of every activity and relieve the pain and stress caused by everyday misuse of the body.
