Nominating Committee Nominations 2014
Nominating Committee members are elected by the membership at the Annual ACGM
AIDA MACGUGAN / Nominating Committee
Aida McGugan has joined the Nominating Committee to replace Cheryl Pleskow who finished her term last ACGM. She has been working with us for a few months and has already been very resourceful in finding volunteers. An interest in Classical Dressage and a desire to improve her balance and coordination when riding initially brought Aida to lessons in 1992. A former software developer and development manager for 24 years, Aida is well acquainted with the demands on busy professionals. She will be officially nominated at the ACGM during the business meetings since she joined after the last ACGM. We are very happy to have her on our team!
LAURIE CURRIE to join the Nominating Committee
Being a part of the Nominating Committee would allow me to take a more active role in the future of the Alexander Technique. I would like to be more closely connected with my colleagues in helping the technique to move forward and become better known, understood, and appreciated.
I was certified by the American Center for the Alexander Technique (ACAT) in New York, NY in 1993. I have an extensive dance and movement background going back to childhood. I obtained a BA in Philosophy magna cum laude from Hunter College in New York, NY in 2001. I have a private practice in Mahopac, New York and have had students over the years from diverse backgrounds and ranging from the ages of 14 to 87. I am a member of a newly formed group of Alexander teachers in Westchester and Putnam counties of New York. When I am not teaching, I am probably dancing, quilting, gardening, or spending quality time with my husband.
